Mapy.cz - Share Your Location
A new feature is allowing users to share their location. The application asks for permission to share location at startup, which can affect battery life. If your journey intersects with the path of a coronavirus-positive person, you will be notified via message. The application will not reveal your identity, and will not display pinpoints or hotspots or other identifying data. Nevertheless, you can share the location of the person you see on your journey with others.
Users can also create offline maps that include hiking and cycling trails. It also includes points of interest and fuel prices for selected European countries. While offline maps are not available online, they can be downloaded and used offline. You can also record your route using the app. The app is available only for Android phones. If you want to download maps to use offline, you will have to install the SHOCart application. It has more features than the free version.
Users can plan their route by clicking on the track planner on the Prague map. The planner assumes that you're driving. Then, you can select the fastest or shortest route. Alternatively, you can see the route of a walking man by clicking on the walking man icon. To create the track plan, you first select a starting point and then move the mouse to the position of the destination. Next, you can "plant" a red or green pin on the map. The red pin puts the destination address in the top box while the green pin plants it in the bottom. The planner will calculate the distance between the two points and display it on the track plan.
